Hitch locks are intended to prevent hoodlums from taking your trailer. A hitch bolt keeps your trailer hitch and the receiver together until you open it, usually with a key. These locks keep anybody from lifting the receiever, and they won't have the capacity to un-hitch the trailer unless the bolt is off.
